Ideactio partnered with Singapore Food Manufacturing Association (SFMA) to organise an Open Innovation Challenge to help shape the future of food manufacturing.

This Open Innovation Challenge was designed and facilitated alongside SFMA - to organise a 5 Day Hackathon to set participants up for the Design Thinking Process and Pitch presentation. An extensive toolkit with templates and tools for each stage of the Design Thinking process was provided for the teams. Each team is paired with a challenge statement raised by the participating food manufacturing companies.

These activities were designed and conducted to add value to the competition in five stages.

Day 1: Design Thinking Workshop

During the Design Thinking workshop, the Look, Think and Make templates was introduced to the students along with instructions on how to complete them, and examples which Challenge Teams could refer to. Teams was also matched with a facilitator from Ideactio to help the teams focus and sharpen their ideas.

Day 4: Pitch Development

On Day 4 of the hackathon, the students were invited back to Ideactio’s studio to sit in for a pitch presentation workshop. The purpose of this session is to help teams craft and refine a pitch that communicate their key ideas and solution in the best way possible.

Day 5: Pitch Day

All the teams gathered at Ideactio as they relished the opportunity to confront this dynamic challenge head-on. This project fostered a collaborative environment where diverse perspectives converged, sparking a wave of creative and innovative solutions. The dedication and collaborative spirit of our team were truly inspiring.

  • Cross-functional collaboration at its best - Engineering, design, infocom technology and life science students seamlessly blended their skills to craft holistic solutions.
